Use of IP addresses
SisFrance is the national historic seismicity database for France. It gathers together all the macro-seismic characteristics of the earthquakes felt in France: date, time, name, region, areas concerned by the effects of the tremor and related intensities, epicentre, epicentre co-ordinates and intensity, bibliography, macro-seismic maps, isoseismal maps and digital archives.
SisFrance corresponds to the state of knowledge at time T which can be modified by updates. The data provided has no contractual value and is based on advice from consultants from the EDF, IRSN and BRGM.
The SisFrance database is a collective work protected by the French Industrial Property Code, the author of which is the BRGM (Geological and Mining Research Bureau).
By the application of Article L. 122-5 of the French Industrial Property Code, only free private representations made solely within the family circle are allowed.
Any other use must be subject to express prior agreement in writing from BRGM, in particular relating to the browsing screens, logos, images and photos for which any reproduction, whether total or partial, or imitation is prohibited.
The BRGM (the Geological and Mining Research Bureau), Electricité de France (EDF) and the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (IRSN - the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Institute) are the co-producers of the SisFrance database.
Par application de l'article L. 342-3 du Code de la propriété intellectuelle, seules sont autorisées l'extraction ou la réutilisation d'une partie non substantielle du contenu de SisFrance, par la personne qui y a licitement accès.
Any substantial extraction from the database should be subject to an express agreement agreed with the co-producers.
Limits of responsibility|
Neither BRGM, EDF, IRSN, nor any party having been involved in the creation, production, distribution, hosting or maintenance of this site may be held responsible for any damage, whether direct or indirect, resulting from access to and/or the use of this site by web surfers.
BRGM, EDF and IRSN give no guarantee as to the exactness or the exhaustive nature of the information provided.
Only information brought to its attention has been transposed, bearing in mind that some earthquakes are either totally unknown, forgotten, or not listed to date. BRGM may not be held responsible should new investigations lead to the characteristics of earthquakes being reviewed. BRGM does not guarantee uninterrupted operation nor that the server for this site is free of any virus or other elements liable to cause damage.
BRGM may modify the content of this site without prior notice.

This site may contain links and references to Internet sites belonging to third parties. Such links and references are there in the interests of and to help users and this implies neither BRGM's responsibility nor its approval of the information contained in those sites.
Data of a personal nature|
By accessing this site, certain data relating to the users, such as Internet protocol addresses, the software used, the time spent, etc. will be recorded and saved on the BRGM server. This data will not identify users and such data will only be used for the sole purposes of analysing the site visiting frequency. If users supply nominative data in the sense of the French "Informatique et Liberté" (data protection) act, that data will only be used for statistical purposes and will not be published or made available to third parties. The BRGM neither sells nor makes available nominative data sent in this way.
Any person concerned by nominative data may be advised of it. He/she may also request that such data is corrected, completed, updated or deleted. Requests covered by this paragraph must be sent in writing or by E-mail to the address below:

The IP address is a number which is allocated automatically to your computer on surfing the web. The servers and major computers which host Internet sites automatically identify your computer with that IP number. BRGM uses that IP address in order to produce statistics, it being understood that IP addresses and personal identities are not linked to each other and remain anonymous.
Cookies are data elements that Internet sites send to individual computer hard disks in order to keep a record of the visit; passwords are not kept in the cookies. Cookies provide the means for surfers to save their personal parameters to access that site and thus make their surfing easier. If you do not wish to receive cookies you can use your browser's option which disables cookies. BRGM does not use personal identification items contained in cookies for commercial purposes, nor does it share them with other persons.
